“The (500) Days of Summer attitude of “He wants you so bad” seems attractive to some women and men, especially younger ones, but I would encourage anyone who has a crush on my character to watch it again and examine how selfish he is. He develops a mildly delusional obsession over a girl onto whom he projects all these fantasies. He thinks she’ll give his life meaning because he doesn’t care about much else going on in his life. A lot of boys and girls think their lives will have meaning if they find a partner who wants nothing else in life but them. That’s not healthy. That’s falling in love with the idea of a person, not the actual person.”

I’m excited to go home for a few days and be by the water. Pool days in Gainesville are a ton of fun but there’s nothing like the smell of saltwater. Plus, I get to see my dog, my friends from home, and go to a rays game.

It’s a rainy day here, and it makes me lazy and pensive. I didn’t see this summer coming, but it’s going to be wonderful. I just have to make sure I don’t lose my priorities along the way. Because before we know it fall is going to be here again. My life is finally the way I’ve always imagined it, I just don’t want to lose it or screw anything up. With friends, with school, with the boyfriend. I have to keep my eyes on the future. In a year, I’ll be graduating. I need to get my grades up and look for a fall internship or job. Do I want to go to grad school, teach abroad, or start my career? This is the question I’m avoiding. I may not know the answer yet, but I need to prepare for all of the options. And I need to start preparing now, instead of at the last minute like I always do (which then gives me so much anxiety that I do nothing).
